8 LEADERSHIP LESSONS OF SIR RATAN TATA YOU WISH YOU KNEW BEFORE

"I dont believe in taking right decision, I take decision and make
it right" - Ratan Tata.
Such a strong personality was born on 28th December 1937 in Surat,
Ratan Naval Tata has been awarded Padam Vibhushan and
Padam Bhushan in the year 2008 & 2000 respectively for his
contribution towards trade and industry.
The chairman of Emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata is known for his
vision and ability to lead and innovate.
So now, let us dive into the topic?
8 LEADERSHIP LESSONS OF SIR RATAN TATA YOU WISH YOU KNEW BEFORE:
1)TRUST, VALUES, AND COMMITMENT:
You might have heard about the breaking news around 2016 that
Ratan Tata removed Cyrus Mistry from the chairman position, this was a shock in the whole corporate world because Ratan Tata himself
found Cyrus Mistry for the chairman position with the belief that Cyrus
Mistry is capable for taking his position then
why did Ratan Tata remove Cyrus Mistry?
There were several reasons for this, but the main reason according to
experts that Cyrus Mistry was focusing more on profits than the values and
commitment of the Tata group.
Example:
When Japanese company NTT Docomo came to India in 2009, they bought 26%
stakes from Tata group in 13 thousand crores, when this deal happened, at
that time Tata promised Docomo that they can leave whenever they want and
they will be refunded as per the current market value of that time, if not
that then at least half of the investment will be refunded.
Now, due to some problems Tata teleservices wasn't working properly,
hence Docomo decided to leave, during this scenario Cyrus Mistry was the
chairman, Docomo asked Tata to search a good buyer but when Tata couldn't
find the good buyer, Docomo asked Tata to buy their shares as per they
promised before. Expert says that at that time Cyrus Mistry used RBI
guidelines against Docomo and refused to give the money back and started
legal cases against Docomo because according to Cyrus Mistry giving the
money back to Docomo was not a good idea for the business.
The Docomo company felt really disappointed because they had their
business with Tata company due to its values and commitment and even Ratan
Tata himself found that decision of Cyrus Mistry unacceptable and
hence Ratan Tata decided to remove Cyrus Mistry from the chairman
position of the Tata group.
KEY POINT:
Trust, values, and commitment is a major part of the Tata group and you
should also focus on values and commitment instead of focusing only on
profits.
2) NEVER STOP LEARNING:
Very few people know that Ratan Tata was once offered a job from IBM, but
Ratan Tata refused to take the job and worked in Tata steels as a normal
worker just like other employees.
In an interview, he also said that in starting of his career he spent 8
years of his life in training programs in two or three companies shop floor,
he said that during that time he thought he was just wasting his time but
later he told that he realized that those 8 years of training and learning
was his life best investment and was his best decision, Ratan Tata says
"Listening and learning are the keys to success"
Yes indeed its true, right?
In fact, in a graduation speech, Ratan Tata said,
" Just because you got a degree doesn't mean you should stop learning
if you want to be successful in life you should never stop
learning"
Here is the video, if you would like to watch?
KEY POINT:
No matter how much knowledge you have, you should never stop learning and
never think that something is impossible for you because the word itself
is I'm possible :)
3)USE YOUR EMOTION FOR SUCCESS:
I am definitely sure that you have heard this story before but this is so
amazing and inspiring story no one could resist sharing it again.
When Ratan Tata created the first car Tata Indica, it doesn't work well
in the market and had many losses due to which the other company members
and experts told Ratan Tata to sell the car company, unwillingly he
accepted and went to America to sell his company to Ford.
During the meeting, Bill Ford the owner of the ford company very
arrogantly insulted Ratan Tata by saying that
"WHEN YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE CARS, WHY YOU EVEN TRIED AND WE ARE
DONG A GREAT FAVOUR ON YOU BY BUYING THIS COMPANY"
This insult felt by Ratan Tata and at the same moment he refused the deal
and came back to India and started working on Indica car and TATA MOTORS
day and night and finally, he took the TATA MOTORS to a huge
success.
Also, there was a time that Ford company was facing losses and they
decided to sell their two brands Jaguar and Land Rover and Ratan Tata
decided to buy those brands and as a result, Bill ford sold both of his
cars by saying to Ratan Tata
"YOU ARE DOING A GREAT FAVOUR ON US BY BUYING THESE TWO BRANDS"
Friends, this is the way to covert your anger into motivation and use this
motivation to acquire success, and as it is truly said
"Success is the best revenge"

|
KEY POINT: Never take any decision when you are angry and when you are sad," An angry mind is a narrow mind"
instead you should use your anger into motivation and acquire a huge
success.
4) VALUE YOUR TEAM:
You would be surprised to know that Tata was the first company that brought
8 hours working rule in 1912 which was also followed by Ford company.
In 1917, due to Tata's advanced thinking they started giving medical health
benefits to their employees which again inspired many companies worldwide to
follow it.
You might have heard this phrase that
" If you want to earn money, invest in Reliance but if you want to work,
join Tata "
So friends, don't forget, teamwork is the main factor to be successful and
hence you should value your team not only in time of success but also in
times of failures :)
KEY POINT: Without Teamwork and support no company has ever succeeded in doing
anything. Also, there is a quote from Sir
Ratan Tata
"If you want to walk fast, walk alone but if you want to walk far, walk
together"
5) BELIEVE IN YOUR DECISION:
Many people doubted Ratan Tata's decision, even when he refused to sell the
company to Ford.
When Ratan Tata bought Tetley Tea in 450 million dollars, however, he
believed in that decision and ignored the doubts of other people and he
made the Tata Tea world's second-largest tea company in the world.
It doesn't mean that Ratan Tata never took the wrong decision but the
important thing is to believe in that decision and give your everything to
make that decision right and to make it work and do not afraid of the wrong
decisions in your life instead you should learn from that wrong decision and
try not to repeat those mistakes.
KEY POINT: "Take the stones people throw at you. And use them to build a monument"
- Ratan Tata.
Indeed, you must believe in your dreams, in your decision, no matter what
other people speak about you.
"kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kaam hai kehna"
I am sure you have heard this phrase. Successful people believe in their
dream and not on others.
6) TAKE RISKS:
Ratan Tata strongly believes that you should take chances in your life like
Apple, Facebook, Google, etc. These top companies were once started in a
small garage.
If these companies would not take chances and would not work on their idea
they will never make it to the top as they are now.
Hence, if you want to grow in your life, you must take chances, you must
take risks in your life.

KEY POINT: "I don't believe in taking right decisions, I take decisions and make
them right" - Ratan Tata.
You should not afraid of taking risks instead you should take a calculated
risk and move forward to your goal even

7) GIVE TO RECEIVE:
Many people included me before, thinks that Tata earns so much more than
Reliance in numbers then why don't we hear the name of Ratan Tata in the
list of the richest businessman, people in the world where Mukesh Ambani
name always comes in the list of richest man right?
Well the reason is
Tata group gives 65% of their income to charity.
Also, Tata came up with Nano car because he wanted that even with less
money every person of India should enjoy the experience of having a car
even after getting losses, Ratan Tata has not stopped the manufacturing of
the Nano Car.
When Ratan Tata was asked about this,
Ratan Tata replied that "Mukesh Ambani is a businessman and I am an
industrialist"
(comment below what you understand by this statement).
Every Diwali, Tata donates almost 1000 crores or more to cancer patients,
and also everyone has witnessed the donation of 1,500 crores in support of
the fight against COVID-19 and he also has said that he will even donate his
entire property if our country is in that situation of need.

KEY POINT: You should share your success with everyone, if you cannot help a single
person in your life, your life is useless, so do help others without any
expectation, it's a true saying that
“Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of
receiving anything in return.”

8) DON'T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS ON ONE BASKET:
Mr. Ratan Tata believed in investing in different companies so his
investment is always safe. He acquired a stake in the growing Chinese giant
Xiaomi and the e-commerce site snapdeal. Investing in different companies
ensures that your investment is safe and grows no what the situation of a
particular industry is.
KEY POINT:
When you divide your risks into micro parts there is a great chance of
not losing all your possession at once. If one of the risk results in
losses, you are still in great condition because of other safe
possessions. You must learn how to divide your risk intelligently and take
steps accordingly.
So, friends, this was my another attempt to provide you another
